RPS has an immediate career opportunity for a Junior IT Security Analyst. The position will be based in our Galway office and will report to the Security Operations Lead.

The Security Operations Team is responsible for securing all technology services delivered to the company and our clients. The successful candidate will help improve the global security posture of our business.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities
This role is a wide-ranging role assisting the Security Operations lead in completion of the following tasks:
• Monitoring alerting tools for security incidents, responding to and investigating incidents as they arise
• Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on systems and applications
• Collating security briefings for incident response and security projects
• Participating in security exercises and simulations within the security team and across the business.
• Assessing best practice security controls and working with the operations team in implementing these controls
• Using SIEM and service reporting tools to monitor the security posture of the IT estate and identify anomalous activity and behaviours. Refine and develop dashboards and reports to continuously improve security situational awareness
• Develop subject matter expertise in operational security, providing advice and guidance to other teams within the business on good practice and maintain relevant and current industry knowledge through publications, events and training
• Maintain an ISMS accredited to ISO27001

Education and experience
• Degree (Hons) in Computer Science or equivalent with additional qualification in information security preferred.
• 1-2 years’ experience working on a security team preferred.

• A keen interest in cyber security and associated industries.
• Self-motivated, articulate, and familiar with security threats & trends.
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of security technologies, toolsets and methods.
• Good working knowledge of security infrastructure such as firewalls and anti-virus.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
Additional Beneficial Skills
• Programming or Scripting experience.
• Experience with Linux and open source software.
