Senior GLP Analyst

Position: Senior GLP Analyst
Location: Bedford
Type: Full time, Permanent
Salary: £28-35k (DOE)

About the role:

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Pesticide Residue Analyst to join our new and developing GLP compliant testing service. This is an exciting time to join the team with opportunities to help shape the processes and methodologies prior to launch of this service. This is a key position in the team, responsible for the entire analytical process from sample extraction to data analysis and reporting of results.

As Senior GLP Analyst, you will be responsible for developing, optimising, validating and running quantitative methods using LC-MS/MS, primarily for the analysis of pesticide residues in a range of sample matrix types. As this is a new business-stream there may also be opportunities to help shape the future direction of the team. As the team grows, you’ll have responsibility for developing, training and mentoring other staff recruited into the team. You will work closely with the Study Director to ensure studies are delivered on-time and in a fully GLP-compliant manner, ensure that GLP guidelines are always adhered to and that appropriate records are maintained through the analytical process.

Key responsibilities:

• Work with Study Director and LC Section Head to develop, optimise and validate analytical methodologies.
• Work with Study Director to undertake chemical analysis on pesticide residues in compliance with GLP regulations
• Contribute to the design and implementation of GLP Study Plans
• Responsible for operation and maintenance of HRM-LC-MS and LC-MS/MS instrumentation, as well as other laboratory equipment as required.
• Supervision and mentoring of other technical staff within the GLP team
• Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment and methods.
• Apply advanced analytical skills to implement assigned projects and identify and trouble-shoot situations needing special attention.

Ideal skills/expertise required:

• BSc in Chemistry or related subject
• Experience working within a GxP compliant analytical testing laboratory, ideally working with pesticide residues.
• Practical experience and excellent understanding of LC-MS/MS systems.
• Proven experience of training and mentoring junior staff.
• Ability working to achieve defined targets.
• Experience of method development, optimisation and validation within a GxP compliant setting.
