Project Engineer

RPS Group is an international consultancy employing around 5,000 people. We provide advice upon:

• The development and management of the built & natural environment;
• The exploration and production of energy and other natural resources.

The Infrastructure Business Stream, providing services across the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland, wishes to recruit an additional Project Engineer to join our Water and Environmental Consulting team.

We are looking for an individual who is educated to Degree level in an engineering or technical/scientific discipline; Masters Degree preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, and experience of VBA macro development is desirable.

You will be working as part of a team of project engineers providing analysis of financial and operational data and reporting to our Water Industry clients to support business planning. You will be supported by our team of data analysts and will be required to provide a project management role to support the programme of work and delivery of key projects. You will report to the Technical Manager.

Typical duties will include:

Review of Data Analysis
• Undertaking “fitness for purpose” checks on data quality;
• Validation of results with reference to historic findings and relationships across the UK water industry;
• Reviewing statistical analysis of data for the development of functional relationships;
• Ensuring audit trails are present between data receipt and delivery to client of resulting spreadsheets, databases etc.

Systems Development
• Supporting the development and maintenance of existing and proposed bespoke software tools / applications as dictated by project work;
• Preparing and maintaining software documentation.

• Assisting in the preparation of factual and interpretative reports;
• Discussing draft reports with relevant reviewers and making amendments as required;
• Undertaking research and investigative work relating to project brief where necessary and creating literature reviews and summaries.

• Discussing project briefs with the Technical Manager in order to outline his or her role in the project;
• Acting as Project Lead or Reviewer when nominated on designated projects;
• Assisting when required in the preparation of material for the purposes of marketing, bid submissions, client preparations etc.

Full training will be provided. Prior Water Industry experience is desirable but not essential.
