North America Tax Manager
Houston (USA)

RPS has a requirement for a Tax Manager to join the finance team based at its regional head office in Houston, Texas. The role is responsible for all areas of tax in the North America region. It reports to the North American CFO and is supported by the Group Head of Tax based in the UK.


• Business support – ensuring that tax risk is considered by the operational teams, particularly at the proposal stage

• Risk management – implementation and management of risk management processes including formalising controls

• Reporting – to the CFO and Group Head of Tax. Annual reporting is required using the Hyperion consolidation system and includes deferred tax and use of International Accounting Standards. Regular contact is also required with the local finance teams.

• US direct tax compliance - tax return preparation and review, calculating quarterly estimated tax payments and clearing historical issues

• Tax authority relationship management – federal (IRS) and state taxing jurisdictions

• International compliance – mainly in Canada, Central & South America and West Africa. Includes management of withholding taxes, permanent establishment, indirect taxes and employment taxes with the support of local advisors

• Transfer pricing – compliance with OECD BEPS requirements

• Group structure – working with Finance and Legal colleagues to rationalise the complex group structure and ensure that tax attributes are protected

• M&A – RPS is a highly acquisitive group and tax support is required during due diligence and integration

• Ability to see beyond the obvious – do not take things at face value but explore what issues may not be immediately apparent

• Employment taxes – reasonable understanding of employment related taxes

This role requires daily interaction with RPS employees from Finance and Operations departments. Limited domestic and international travel may be required in performance of duties.


• 10+ years of experience with US and international tax

• Adept learning skills
• Proficiency in software applications, primarily Microsoft Word and Excel


• Public accounting practice experience
• Proficiency in tax software applications, CCH Prosystems fx Tax preferred


• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree in taxation or accounting a plus
• CPA certification
