SHE Advisor - Oxford

We are looking to appoint a Health Safety Adviser to work within a leading student accommodation provider to the highest level of professional standards, advising and assisting senior staff and managers to enable them to discharge their accountabilities and responsibilities.

Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor
Main client location: Wantage, Oxfordshire
Other client locations: 35 UK wide
Type: Initial Fixed Term Contract (12months)

Main Responsibilities:

• Actively engage with senior members of staff to ensure that the appropriate services are delivered in line with customer and business needs.
• Provide Accommodation Managers and Operational Staff with support to enable them to discharge their accountabilities and responsibilities e.g. develop the Health and Safety Management System, carry out risk assessments, improvement plans, A&I investigations; legislation changes etc.
• Provide front line general SHE advice on a day-to-day operational basis.
• Collate and interpret performance measures for managers, using them to help set objectives and targets within the company.
• Actively promote good practice and learning with senior staff and managers.
• Provide advice on the SHE Strategy.
• Access specialist support, on behalf of customers, from other areas of the business.
• Maintain an up to date professional knowledge in all areas of the Safety, Health and Environment including legislation, standards, guidelines and codes of practice and ensuring changes are reflected in internal ways of working.
Skills/Experience Required:

• Diploma / degree qualification.
• Sound working knowledge of risk management and the associated tools and methodologies currently in place.
• Up to date with legislative changes and best practice developments.
• Significant experience in the provision of all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment with a detailed understanding of all relevant statutory requirements.
• Extensive experience of team working, influencing and networking in a matrix organisation, and significant experience working with customers.
• Good problem solving with an acute attention to detail.
• Excellent communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills.
