Engineering Technician

Due to the expanding nature of our business, we are seeking 2-3 Engineering Technicians to work in a downtown client office. This will be a contract term for a period of 6 – 12 months. The Engineering Technicians will follow all procedures to ensure our client remains compliant with applicable legislation(s) and receives top quality documentation relative to third party crossing agreements.

Position Profile

Position Title: Engineering Technician
Location: Calgary, Alberta

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and review 3rd party crossing agreements between operating companies
• Complete appropriate quality control and assigned paperwork
• Abide and act in accordance with all company and client policies, operating and training procedures
• Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Review and understand legal agreements, road use and access plans and construction drawings
• Utilizing additional resources and support as required when discussing more complex issues with clients
• Understanding, responding to and anticipating client concerns, needs and requests, and maintaining commitments to clients' milestones and objectives
• Formulating creative solutions for problems, concerns and issues
• Sharing appropriate and accurate information with the Damage Prevention Project Manager; reporting issues to appropriate parties in a timely manner
• Sharing professional advice with the client as appropriate
• Thorough documentation of all activities including contact reports, issue identification and tracking
• Strictly adhering to common safety procedures
• Staying current on relevant industry best practices

Skills and Qualifications:
• Relevant post-secondary education or relevant Industry Association education or certifications
• Good computer skills and appropriate Email 'etiquette'
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Committed to professional excellence
• Demonstrates high energy and a positive attitude, as well as an eagerness to accept challenging assignments
• Excellent documentation skills
• Effective time management skills and effective planning
• Proven strong negotiation and consensus building skills
• Creative problem solving skills
• Ability to work well independently and with others
• Displays good decision making skills, judgment and reasonable risk taking skills
• Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
• Excellent work ethic; demonstrated to be dependable and trustworthy, and practices personal and professional integrity at all times

• Previous oil and gas or pipleline experience considered an asset
• Experience on projects regulated by the National Energy Board
