Role: Marine Mammal Observer

Reports to: Director
Location: Axminster, UK

Experience Required
The candidate will ideally possess:
Qualifications:-Ideally one or more from the list below
• MSc in Ecology, Marine Mammal Science, Marine Biology and Fisheries, Applied Marine Science, Marine Environmental Protection, Marine Mammal Science, Applied Environmental Studies or similar
• MSc Marine Biology, Applied Marine Biology, Ecology and Conservation, Biology and Geography, Ecology, Oceanography and Biology, Zoology with Marine Zoology or similar

Background/Training:-Ideally one or more from the list below
• JNCC Accredited Marine Mammal Observer for offshore seismic operations
• JNCC Approved Marine Mammal Observer Seismic Training Course
• JNCC Underwater Acoustics & Marine Wildlife Monitoring
• Qualified Protected Species Observer
• PAM Course – Seiche Measurements, Cornwall
• Seiche Underwater Acoustics & Sonar Training
• Seiche Wildlife Monitoring Training
• Seiche Underwater Acoustics and Wildlife Monitoring Training Course
• Data Processing System, Ishmael and IFAW Cetacean Monitoring Software – Logger 2000, Porpoise Detector, Rainbow Click and Whistle Detector, RUDAR
• PAMGUARD Technical Advisory Committee

Experience:-Ideally one or more from the list below
• Extensive marine monitoring experience
• Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) experience
• Experience of project management, recruiting and supporting personnel
