Principal Consultant

RPS Energy is a multi-disciplinary consultancy, providing Technical, Commercial and Project Management Support services in the fields of operations, geoscience, engineering and HS&E to the energy sector worldwide. RPS Energy services the oil and gas and renewables sectors from operating bases in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Malaysia.
RPS Energy has an established track record with numerous major clients. We are embarking on a major programme of further expansion in this sector and are seeking the right individual to support this expansion with immediate involvement in high profile flagship energy projects.
Role: Principal Consultant -RPS
Reports to: GM, Aberdeen
Location: Aberdeen
Main Responsibilities
Working with an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, responsibilities will include but not necessarily be limited to:
• Assist in setting annual HSE targets and KPIs
• Monitor and report on HSE performance
• Develop and manage a variety of HSE initiatives and projects
• Liaise with senior management, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders
• Develop/implement annual HSE plans
• Provide HSE advice/support on the following:
o Regulatory requirements in UK and Europe
o Implementation of HSE Management Systems and supporting plans and procedures
o Application of H&S risk assessment processes and tools (JSA/HAZID/HAZOPS) and/or EIA process to various operational activities
o Advice on practical controls to mitigate risks and/or impacts
o Risk / Aspects register
• Develop and maintain emergency plans and oil spill contingency plans
• Coordinate HSE competence and training programmes
• Develop/manage HSE auditing (on/offshore)
• Facilitate management review of performance
• Report and investigate incidents
• Maintain action tracking system
Experience Required
The candidate should:
• Posses a degree in a Science or Engineering subject
• Posses H,S or E qualification (chartered status would be an advantage)
• Have at least 10 years industry experience, preferably with at least 5 in oil and gas industry
• Have good knowledge of HSE management systems
• Be familiar with UK HSE legislation
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Be confident and able to work in client offices,
• Be a good planner and communicator
• Be able to manage multiple tasks
• Be willing to travel internationally
• Be flexible in work methods and
• Be familiar with modern computer packages
